Resident was created by Kate Boyes, a Chartered Surveyor and property manager with a property career spanning 21 years establishing her own property management firm 15 years ago.
Through her work Kate recognised a need for a more cost-effective solution that modernises block management and makes it more accessible and transparent, and so Resident was born.
Kate has a first class honours degree in Land Management from the University of Reading specialising in Investment & Finance, and trained at Nelson Bakewell (now Capita Symonds), a Property Consultancy, in London. She qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2004, and is a Fellow & former Board member of ARLA.
Kates own property management company manages in excess of 3,000 units and has won Awards with the Times & Sunday Times & won Property Management Company of the Year at The Negotiator Awards.
The idea for Resident came in 2014 when I was running my own block management company and became completely frustrated at the lack of systems available to help me with my day to day property management at an affordable price.
My vision was to create one platform that handled everything – Accountancy, Company Secretary, Suppliers, Contractors, Works Orders, Section 20s, Compliance & Risk Assessments, Contact Information, Maps, Photos, Document storage, Insurance, Tasks and Reminders, and how about all the email messages sent every day to leaseholders?
In 2014 emailing leaseholders was not so much the norm as it is today however I wanted a forward thinking system that saved on postage, stationery and time. But it needed to be straightforward. The specification list for Resident was, and still is, endless and grows every day as we work with our clients to build THE system for managing agents, but five years later we are enjoying the journey building it for you.
We would love to discuss how Resident can help you Block Manage.
Please email me at email@example.com to have a chat about how we can help you.

We recommend changing the financial year end by either lengthening or shortening the financial year end at Companies House as this will ease your administrative burden. It is worth noting that you can only lengthen an accounting period once within a five year period, however it can be shortened more frequently.
As part of our ongoing campaign to create a series of time saving solutions to common scenarios that property managers and book-keepers face in the management of blocks of flats we have created the ability to export ALL the documents accountants need to prepare the end of year service charge accounts in one digital file with one click. Please watch our video above explaining how our new ‘End of Year Pack’ function works.
